USA-flagged, IMO 5373476. Building ordered in 1949, laid down by the Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company, with yard number 488 on 8 February 1950, launched on 23 June 1951, maiden voyage begun on 23 June 1951, decommissioned on 14 November 1949, sold in 1978 and in 1886 laid up at Philadelphia. Designed by William Francis Gibbs (24 August 1896-6 September 1967). If needed could she be converted into a troopship which never was necessary.

Displacement 45.400 (with design draught)-47.264 (with maximum draught) tons, gross tonnage 53.330 tons and as dimensions 287 (waterline)-302 (over all) x 30,9 (maximum) x 9,53 (design)-9,85 (maximum) x 23 (depth) metres or 940-990 x 101.5 x 31.25-32.33 x 75 feet. Totally 12 decks. Accommodation for 1.928 passengers and a crew numbering 900 men. With a machinery of 3 Westinghouse double-reduction geared steam turbines and 8 Babcock&Wilcox delivering 240.000 ship via 4 shafts allowing a speed of 35 knots.
