An item dealing with the harbours along the river Danube reported that in the last few years fishing on the river was far from organized. The fish was locally consumed and harly exported. Private fishery was replaced by state controlled fishing cooperatives in all of the large settlements such as Tataritsa, Slistra Okoliya, Tutrakan, Ruse (the Iskur river mouth), Boril, Ostrov, Cryakhovo, at the mouths of the Ogosta and the Sut, Taibur, Lom Ololiya, Lom, , Akchar Balanka, Vidin Okoliya, Gomatartsi, oshaza, Novo Selo and Vruv.
