Sunk Russian floating dock at Nikolajev, Ukraine worth to be salvaged according to German officials in 1943

In his report dated Nikolajev, Ukraine 27 July 1943 informed captain W. Wilstermann of the R.K.S. the authorities responsible for the German sea shipping activities in the Black Sea about the wrecks to be found in his field. At Nikolajev was one 30.000 tons floating dock of which the salvage by a Dutch company already started quite a long time. The salvage was a very difficult enterprise caused by the fact that the Romanians possessed the dock for some time and pumps, aggegrates and tubes disappeared further delaying the work.

Note

1. Between 22 June 1941 and 10 November 1944 was the Soviet republic Ukraine more or less controlled by the German Reichskomissariat after she was conquered by Germany. The Soviets destroyed harbour facilities, scuttled ships and so on when the Germans invaded Ukraine.
