Built by Harima Shipbuilding and Engineering, Aioi, Japan for Kaburagi Kisen K.K. in 1937, requisitioned by the Japanese Imperial Navy in 1941 and converted into an auxiliary gunboat and sunk by the American destroyers USS Mahan (DD-364) and Samson (DD-367) south west of Tamana [or Rotcher Island, Gilbert Islands] on 22 October 1942. Gross tonnage 3.311 ton, deadweight 4.909 tons and as dimensions 319 x 46 x 9½ (light)-21 (loaded) feet. Speed 11 (normal cruising)-12 (maximum) knots. Reciprocating machinery supplying via 1 screw 190 nhp. Coal bunker capacity 428 tom and with a speed of 11 knots a range of 5.500 nautical miles. Fitted out with an icebreaker bow.
