An item referred to notes of a naval officer of board of a British cruiser active in the Adriatic between August 1916-October 1917. He wrote that the Italian Navy established in summer 1917 an air base at Otranto patrolling the Golf of Taranto and to the southward of the patrols executed by the Ottanto secion [of the British?] which section patrolled the drifter lines and the southward of them. The French also used this bases for erecting new aircraft before they went to Corfu.
