Boiler exploded on board of German aviso SMS Wacht according to the Dutch newspaper Tilburgsche courant dated Sunday 17 September 1899

An item reported that on Tuesday on board of the German cruiser SMS Wacht a boiler exploded killing 4 stokers and wounding lightly a petty officer and another 3 men. The Wacht was part of the fleet to execute the autumn manoeuvres.(1)

Note

1. Of the Wacht-class avisos, sister ship Jagd, preceded by Greif and succeeded by the Meteor-class, laid down at AG Weser in August 1886, launched on 27 August 1887, commissioned on 9 August 1888 and sunk in a collision with the German ironclad SMS Sachsen when passing the Danzig Bay on 4 September 1901.
