French battleship Gaulois lost according to the Dutch newspaper Nieuwe Tilburgsche Courant dated 1 April 1915

An item dated Berlin, Germany 30 March referred to a reliable source reporting that the French battleship Gaulois heavily damaged during the bombardment of the Dardanelles on 18 March despite all efforts sunk on Friday morning off Lemnos, Greece. (1)

1. Of the Charlemagne-class pre-dreadnought battleships. Building ordered 22 January 1895, laid down at the Arsenal de Brest, France on 6 January 1896, launched on 6 October 1896, commissioned on 23 October 1899 and sunk by the German submarine UB-47 on 27 December 1916.
