Japanese submarine tender Nagoya Maru (1931) 1941-1944

Laid down on account of the Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha Ltd., Fuchu, Japan as a cargo-passenger ship on 1 September 1931, launched on 5 May 1932, completed on 5 August 1932, owned by Nanyo Kaiun K.K. since 22 June 1935, requisitioned by the Imperial Japanese Navy on 20 January 1941, commissioned as submarine tender on 1 March 1941, converted into a submarine tender at Kobe, Japan between 14 March-9 April 1941, converted into a aircraft transport at Kure between 1 May-13 June 1942, damage by an attack of the American submarine USS Herring (SS-233) off Aogashima and abandoned on 1 January 1944, sunk on 2 January 1944 and stricken from the Navy Lost on 10 March 1944. Gross tonnage 6,071 tons, under deck 5,281 tons, net tonnage 3,744 tons and as dimensions 406.8 x 55.5 x 32.5 feet. Call sign JJDE.
