German ironclad Friedrich de Grosse converted into a coal hulk according to the magazine Mitteilungen aus dem Gebiete des Seewesens dated 1907 No. 2

An item reported that the German ship of the line Friedrich de Grosse was stricken off the list and was to be converted into a coal hulk for torpedo boats.(1)

Part of Preussen-class ironclad turret ships/armored frigates, preceded by SMS Hansa, succeeded by Kaiser-class, authorized under naval program of 1867, laid down by Kaiserliche Werft, Kiel, Germany in 1871, launched on 20 September 1874, commissioned on 22 November 1877, stricken from active service register on 21 May 1906, stricken on 27 January 1919 and broken up in 1920.
