British protected cruiser HMS Pegasus visited the Dutch East Indies in 1906

The Jaarboek van de Koninklijke Nederlandsche Zeemacht 1906-1907 reported that the British cruiser HMS Pegasus visited Tandjong Priok, Dutch East Indies between 27-30 December 1906. The Dutch newspaper Bataviaasch nieuwsblad dated 31 December 1906 reported her departure towards Colombo, Ceylon. Commanding officer Warren Hastings d’ Oyly.

1. Part of Pelorus-3rd class protected cruisers, preceded by Arrogant-class succeeded by Highflyer-class, ordered in 1893, laid down by Palmers Shipbuilding and Iron Company, Jarrow, England with yard number 718 in May 1896, launched on 17 January 1899, commissioned on 17 January 1899 and sunk by the German cruiser SMS Königsberg in Zanzibar harbour [Tanzania] on 20 September 1914.  

2. Warren Hastings d’ Oyly (3 August 1867-22 March 1950), promoted to the rank of vice admiral on 18 January 1925, he was retired on 2 September 1919.
