An item referred to CINCAF reporting that the American submarine USS Sailfish (1) probably sunk a Japanese destroyer off Cape Bolinao, the entrance to the Lingayen Gulf, Philippines.

Note

1. SS-192, part of Sargo-class preceded by Salmon-class succeeeded by Tambor-class, laid down as Squalus by Portsmouth Naval Shipyard , Kittery, Maine, USA on 18 October 1937, launched on 14 September 1938, commissioned on 1 March 1939, renamed Sailfish on 9 February 1940, stricken on 30 April 1948 and sold to be broken up on 18 June 1948. The attack on Japanese destroyers in the night of 13 December was without success.
